Just a public service announcement to let you all know about the Asian Food Fesitval which is currently happening in Melbourne. A lot of the festival events are ticketed,  there is however a free hawker stall style night market, ‘Pasar Malam’, on this Saturday, 18 September 2010. Pasar Malam will be set up on Heffernan Lane, off Little Bourke Street (between Russell and Swanston Streets) and runs from 12 Noon to 12 Midnight.  I just hope that they have my favourite hawker dish, black carrot cake (char kway).  

Running with the Asian food theme, I will be having a Thai Cooking Bonanza on Saturday - having a long overdue boozy lunch with some jetsetting friends who happen to both be in town this weekend.  Stay tuned for some easy Thai recipes – modified from some authentic recipes The Brooding Architect and I picked up in cooking class we did in Chiang Mai earlier this year.
